The Lady Pioneers visited the Highline twice last week. On Tuesday to take on the Chinook Sugarbeeters and on Thursday the CJI Hawks. Both trips they enjoyed the smooth ride of the new cruiser bus. According to coach Cline the ladies could have used a little more focus. "We are definitely capable of beating the Hawks, but we struggled with mental toughness and consistency." "We are a young team and are going to learn from our mistakes, and do our best to make corrections this week in practice...
The lady pioneers had a busy weekend hosting the Box Elder Bears on Friday night and going to the CJI mid-season tournament on Saturday. It was an exciting match-up on Friday against the bears. The girls battled four sets falling to the Bears. 23-25 25-15 17-25 15-25. The ladies were back up early Saturday and on the bus to CJI for a tournament to see where they stand going into playoff season. They placed second in their bracket and lost to the host CJI squad in a close match-up 25-21 25-15....
The men in Purple had more total offense and lead 20-6 at the half and hung on 28-26 at the end of the third quarter but the end result is not one of fairy tales. 41-47. One could rattle on about injuries or a young squad coming of age, but looking at the stats we should have won. The stats just didn't happen when we needed them to. Offense stats we got Weston Allderdice putting up 320 yards rushing and Jordan Schwarzbach adding a rushing touchdown making total offense 353 to Northstars 344 and...
The Lady Pioneers had a successful week of volleyball hanging tough with the North Star Knights and winning over the Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds. The ladies are building momentum over the season. A win over Box Elder on Friday would help build confidence into the CJI tournament on Saturday where the Lady Pioneers could turn some heads. Big Sandy Team Stats versus North Star (Lost 3-0) 25-18, 25-12, 25-17 Assists (8) Jasmine Genereux 3 Kills (10) Jaylyn Cline 7 Blocks (13) Jaylyn Cline 7 Digs...
The bulk of the highlights belonged to Sunburst Friday as Lane Lerum threw four TD passes and Michael Buckley scored three times to lead the Sunburst Refiners over the Big Sandy Pioneers 47-0 at Sunburst during the Refiners homecoming. The Pioneers have now been tested and reminded what it is going to take to be competitive this season. An early flu has hit and Big Sandy's team stamina could have been affected. With the curse of being undefeated now eradicated the Pioneers can focus on putting...
The Heart Butte warriors and their league leading rusher Chasen Kipp came to Big Sandy Friday night. It was a beautiful end of summer day with a harvest moon rising over pioneer field. The Warriors came out in the first quarter giving the Pioneers a challenge and had some on the sidelines losing their cool. Weston Allderdice asserted his power on offense and defense and crushed their spirit out. By the end of the night Weston would have four rushing touchdowns and one interception touchdown....
The Lady Pioneers had a tough week in the gym with two powerhouse teams coming to town. The Chinook Sugarbeeters came down from the highline on Thursday and the ladies had a good match, but fell 25-17, 25-12, 25-23. Some decent scores considering the Sugarbeeters talent and schedule. Way to make em fight to the end ladies. Jenna Leader came up with 6 digs in the match and the team had 12 blocks with Jaylyn Cline posting 5 of them, showing that the girls are making every effort to win. Friday...
As the starting line-ups were read the seemingly endless line of 19 Box Elder Bears across the field from the Pioneers was intimidating, but the Pioneers and Coach Ronnie Simpson had one thing in mind Friday night. WIN. Win they did, and with a final score of 70-34 one may think it was an easy one, but that is not the case. The Pioneers did come out of the blocks tough and shut down the Bears on a fourth and one to set the tone of who would be leading the charge to victory. Then after a failed...
I got a chance to go watch the Lady Pioneers in action on Thursday vs. Chester-Joplin-Inverness. I was able to watch both the Junior High ladies and the varsity squad. I just want to mention Miss Blanton. Her running underhand serve would psych out Karch Kiraly on the beach any day. Then her courage to sing the national anthem to kick-off the varsity game and the way this lady carries herself on a daily basis should be a lesson to us all. It was a big weekend for Junior high sports this weekend...
Did ya see that whiteout blow through town Friday morning?? No, that was the Big Sandy Pioneers leaving in the new unlabeled white cruiser bus for their near Idaho trip to Noxon. Now, cause Robbie says so, let us get the score in the first three sentences 33-22 BIG SANDY THE VICTORS!!! Now, don't get too excited, it is early in the season, but things are looking up in Big Sandy. Laurence Allderdice got the ball rolling with a 55 yard TD run that Big Sandy topped with a pass to Darlington to set...
The Lady Pioneers have consistently been posting better stats with each contest. This weekend was no exception with the Ladies posting some wins and playing in the Championship bracket at the North Star Tournament. Big Sandy kicked off the tournament against Cascade making them earn every point 25-13 and 26-24. Then Big Sandy posted their first win of the weekend against Sunburst in a 50-39 overall tie-breaker. The overall winner of the Tourney, Roy-Winfried, defeated Big Sandy in the next...
It has been a hot and muggy August in the gym for the Lady Pioneers. After watching the American Beach Volleyball duo of Kerri and April battle it out in the heat of Rio, inspiration was in no short supply. Big Sandy volleyball is very positive with former Pioneer standout volleyball player Shersteen Cline, coming in to coach the team and hopes and dreams are running high. Coach Cline and the Lady Pioneers headed to Centerville on Friday to kick-off the season. Saturday the team was back in the...
The Pioneer football team had a bye week to start the season so they took the opportunity to go watch the neighboring Box Elder Bears take on Hot Springs. The Bears finished second in all of Class C Six-Man football a season ago and Hot Springs is always a powerhouse. The boys witnessed a shellacking that could strain any players positive attitude. A score of 75-0 shocked me a bit since the last time the Bears played Hot Springs it was the Bears victory of 42-40 and sent them to the state...
