    Erik Sietsema|Jan 29, 2025

Next week marks the 55th anniversary of the February 2nd, 1970 unmanned landing of an F-106A Delta Dart in a field north of Big Sandy. The story of an emergency landing alone is more than enough to be memorable in small town lore. The event's significance is amplified by the fact that the jet completed its near perfect "belly landing" without a pilot at the controls. Dubbed "The Big Sandy Cornfield Bomber," the jet was quickly collected by the Air Force, returned to Malmstrom Air Force Base,...

Winter damaged trees may only show a few dead branches or twigs. In the most severe cases, the entire tree may die. Evergreen trees are more susceptible to winter desiccation than deciduous trees as the evergreens retain their...

  • Pioneers have a weekend of heart break

    Jan 29, 2025

The Pioneer Basketball team played some tough teams this weekend in Cascade and Turner. The boys lost to Cascade by 27 points with a final score of 47-74 and then turned around to play Turner and lost by 24 points with a final score of 42-66. One thing is for sure: when you watch these boys, they play with heart. It doesn’t matter if they are down by 2 or 20; they are still hustling after every loose ball, crashing the boards for every rebound, and running the floor back in transition. The Pioneers made a statement early against Cascade by c...
