Dana Darlington, a neighbor of mine, sent a press release saying he is running for House District 26. "It consists of all of Chouteau County and about a third, maybe a little more of Cascade County. It's a whole new district." I'm interested in why he decided to run for office. I asked him who was going to be doing his calving for him. Dana said, "My lovely bride!" The event started all this-"for the past 25 years, ever since President Clinton signed the National Monument that moved right throug...
The Big Sandy Theater will be stretching itself this year by putting on a musical comedy. Nonsense in the Northwoods will be showing March 15th and 16th. The production is the story of a run-down lodge on the backside of Moose Lake, and it accidentally draws a zany cross section of guests on the heels of a fake Bigfoot sighting and a newspaper feeding frenzy looking for the worst member of congress who is hiding out in the hotel. One director pointed out that the Saturday showing is before the...

8 at BSMC is certainly off to a good start! The electric panel has finally been installed at the new clinic building. After waiting for over a month, progress can continue again. Hopefully, it will all work like it should and heat will be flowing this week. From there, the building needs a good cleaning and inspection, then the move in can begin! While all of that is happening across the street, inside the current building, the dining room expansion will be taking place. It should only be a...
Marla Ray came out of retirement to teach English at Big Sandy High School. By all accounts, she is doing a great job teaching English. We've published several poems the students have written, so I asked her to consider teaching her students to write articles. I asked Marla to tell me a little about what her Junior class is working on. Marla wrote, "The Junior English class has been learning how to create an accurate resume, write good letters of application for job interviews or college scholarships, as well as letters to the Editor, thank...

Over the past few years, our school has made numerous improvements, including new mats on the gym wall, a new basketball court, a new football locker room for the guys, new lunch tables, new wrestling mats, and probably more that I haven't mentioned. However, I believe that the girls' locker room needs to be improved because it appears to have remained the same for at least ten years. I think it's important for our school to recognize that if they can make improvements in other areas of our...
Big Sandy Lady Pioneers Basketball have struggled for the past 15 years. In the season of 2020-2021, our girls record was 0-16. The next season, 2021-2022 we won a few games with a record of 6-14. Then we made quite a jump, with a record of 12-9 in 2022-2023. This basketball season, we are hoping to cause a ruckus at the District and even at the Divisional tournament. Our record as of now is 18-4, with the W's continuing to increase. The new coaching staff has helped the team tremendously as...
In Class C, basketball season is the most exciting time of the year. That is true this year in particular for the Lady Pioneers. A great start is all l was expecting, anticipating much success for us. With one weekend left of games until tournaments, we were currently 13-3. We started off strong in December at pre-season tournaments in Rudyard and Chester. Our two opponents for the weekend were two 10C teams, Sunburst and Augusta. Sunburst was a scrappy battle, but we pulled it off. For the...

This year, I have been preaching through the book of Genesis’ accounts of the lives of the Patriarchs of the Jewish faith. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph are considered to be the founders of the Jewish faith and the starting point for God dealing with humanity in the Bible. All of those men had something in common: they were all sojourners. Sojourners are people who live in a land that isn’t theirs amongst people who are not their own people. In the ancient world, sojourners had no rights or legal protections. In addition, they were lim...

They then played Hays and won with a score of 78-66 before playing Fort Benton and losing with a score of 52-66. The Pioneers worked hard this season and improved every game. The Pioneer's first game was against Turner, and both teams were rusty-looking. Turner was the first to score, but it took 2 minutes to score, and Ryder Galbavy was the first to...
