There was a fundraiser/dinner- a Divisional Tournament Pep Rally with a Spaghetti Dinner, a 3-Point shoot, a pop shot, and Little Pioneer Basketball games on Tuesday, the 20th. 8 years ago this week, Big Sandy residents witnessed a shoot out when two well respected locals got into an argument. One appeared to have gone for his gun, prompting the other to draw and fire. The paper described the injury as “mortal.” The article was written the day of the shooting and the paper went to press shortly thereafter, which resulted in a fairly vague retelling. Winter Fertilization Facts Fall and winter broadcast application of urea (46-0-0) continues to take place on various winter wheat farms across Chouteau County. The major concern of broadcasting urea is nitrogen loss through ammonia volatilization. Volatilization results when there is a conversion from dissolved ammonia to ammonia gas. The Pioneer football program has been one of the most dominant in Montana for 6-man football in recent years. The Pioneer teams for the last couple years have all made deep playoff runs, resulting in them being known as one of the best teams in the state. Finally, the fall of 2022, the Pioneers came away with their first state football championship in school history. US Navy Veteran and former Sheriff of Chouteau County, Charles Russell Comp, 91, passed away on Thursday evening at his son's home in Havre of natural causes. Cremation has taken place, and a graveside memorial service will be held this Spring at the Big Sandy Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his mother. Years ago, before my wife and I had kids, she would commute about 40 minutes to work every day. When I had days off in the middle of the week or came home from work early, I would sometimes use the time to surprise her.
