  • Patching Cracks

    Erik Sietsema|Aug 7, 2024

Legendary professional golfer, Arnold Palmer, shared a story about the 1961 Masters tournament. He reached the final hole with a one stroke lead. After a good tee shot, he was becoming quite confident of his win. Approaching his ball on the faraway, Palmer spotted a friend of his on the edge of the crowd. He detoured to shake hands and visit. Of course, as a birder, it immediately caught my eye. If in fact, we had Artic Terns in our wheat fields, every birder in a five-state area would be here right now getting a picture of this rare event; which wouldn’t be bad for the local food establishments until they found out what was easily mistaken for Artic Terns (un...

  • The combine is out

    Aug 7, 2024

Big Sandy is an agricultural community. Those whose farm businesses depend on a combine understand the development of one of the most essential pieces of farm equipment. If you aren’t a farmer, you need to understand the value of a combine to farmers. A new combine price can vary depending on size, but for argument’s sake, I’m going with $700,000 for a new combine.
