  • First Day of School for a new class of Kindergartener's

    Zoe Merrill|Aug 29, 2018

Mrs. Samantha Weaver has taught Kindergarten before and although 19 students seems like a lot of kids in one room for anyone else, but she's got it under control. "It's a little much for the four days, but after that it works great." I couldn't help but wonder what the kids thought of school, and what did they want to learn at school so I just had to go and ask them. I wondered if they would talk to me at all, but Mrs. Weaver said, "Oh, they are a talkative bunch. You won't have any trouble at...

Dani teaches the 5th grade and has 11 students. I asked her what was her top priority and she said, "The biggest thing for me is building relationships with the students. Getting to know them, because, I don't think, especially with kids, you can't help them unless you get to know them. I want the children feel comfortable with me,...

  • Volleyball with the Ladies in Purple

    Zoe Merrill|Aug 29, 2018

The ladies in Purple, the Big Sandy Pioneer Volleyball team came out of the locker room with an attitude and smiles on their faces. It was communicating they were going to have fun! They huddled up, swaying back and forth then leaned in. They were ready! Shersteen Cline head coach of the Pioneers loves the game. She told me she played volleyball for Big Sandy for seven years since the 6th graders where pulled up that year, and then she played at a collegiate level at Montana Tech. "I had a reall...

  • Patching Cracks

    Erik Sietsema|Aug 29, 2018

For the last several years, I have occasionally filled in as a substitute teacher at the school. I’ve really enjoyed the experience and have been impressed over and over at the high quality of the school in Big Sandy. Last week, I helped out washing dishes a few times in the school cafeteria. I also really enjoyed this and was impressed at how hard the folks there work to take care of our kids. It was the first week of school and the younger kids were learning the etiquette for visiting the cafeteria. The teacher walked with them and p...

  • My Answer

    Dr. Billy Graham|Aug 29, 2018

Q: I am tired of hearing spiritual people talk about the right way to live and then they live like the devil.
