The Big Sandy Volunteer EMTs are riding in style nowadays. After months of delays, the new ambulance is finally in use. The fire department originally submitted a grant application in June of 2020 to the Montana Department of Transportation, which operates a grant program that pays for up to 90% of the cost of a new ambulance. The price of a new ambulance at the time was $220,000. The grant was awarded later that fall, but delays due to supply chain issues pushed back manufacturing and kept the...

    Jessica Ophus|Sep 28, 2022

Harvest Fest 2022 was a success! We were blessed with perfect temperatures and a smoke-free sky after Friday's rain. The event was well attended and certainly enjoyed by all who came to enjoy the day. With the help of the Big Sandy Baracuda Swim Team, the kids in attendance tested their skills at games like ring toss, pop-can fishing, football throw, and balloon darts, among others. If they weren't partaking in a game, they were getting their face painted, playing on the bounce house, or...

Lentil Yield and Nitrogen Fixation Response to Inoculant and Fertilizer Lentil production has grown dramatically in the northern Great Plains over the past 20 years. In Montana and North Dakota, planted acreage of lentil has increased from 67,000 in 2000 to 585,000 in 2022 (USDA-NASS, 2022. • Patching Cracks

    Erik Sietsema|Sep 28, 2022

In the days right before Jesus entered Jerusalem, he was sitting at a meal with his disciples and some people he had encountered in his ministry. During the meal, a woman came in with a bottle of expensive perfume. Based on the description in the text, it was probably over 300 days wages (or about $54,500 in today’s money). The woman approached Jesus and poured the entire bottle over his head. It would have filled his hair and run down his beard. This was a sort of luxurious personal care type act. People would put oil in their hair and on t...

  • My Queen, Remembered

    Ann Denning|Sep 28, 2022

I was born and raised in Canada, so I have always called Queen Elizabeth the second my queen. I was raised in a family who loved the monarchy. My mother kept a scrapbook of newspaper clippings regarding the Queen, especially when she was in Canada and Saskatchewan. When I return to Canada on my next trip, I shall dig them out and pore over them. As everyone knows, the Queen died on September 8. Surprisingly, the US TV stations have broadcast everything revolving around the funeral and, of course, the remaining family. There are some things you...

The shutout was broken on a last second touchdown pass that was caught by Gavin Clawson. Once again...

We still have a lot of work to do, but I think we are on the right track. My goal for us is to continue being scrappy defensively while also improving our offensive game." Big Sandy beat North Star three sets to two. Scores: 14-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-16, 16-14 For the last five years, the North Star nights have consistently beaten the Lady...
