  • The Grocery Store continues to support Big Sandy

    Zoe Merrill|Nov 1, 2023

November is the month I try to write about what to be thankful for. We have a great little Grocery store that never stops giving, and I wanted to talk to you about it. In most cases, they have what we need, and if they don't have it, Deb Louvar will order it in. Her philosophy is simple, " I just try to do the best I can. Try to meet people's needs as best as you can." The Grocery Store is a big giver to the community. They donate to almost every cause in our community. "Because it's important...

  • Thinking thankful with Shane Ophus

    Zoe Merrill|Nov 1, 2023

I asked Shane Ophus, “How do you approach life so you can be thankful every day”? Shane responds, “Well, it’s not easy. Sometimes, you have to concentrate on it.” However, just that morning, Shane told me he had read in his study bible,”’Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. The note for that verse in my study bible says, ‘Our joy, prayers, and thankfulness should not fluctuate with our circumstances or feelings. Obeying these three commands, rejoice always, p...

  • Technological Advances of the Civil War

    Hunter Moore|Nov 1, 2023

The Civil War lasted from 1861 to 1865. It is the bloodiest battle that the United States has every fought since both sides fighting in the war were from the United States. Nearly 620,000 people were killed. The most shocking part, however, is the fact that only 150,000 people died from battle wounds. The other 470,000 died from diseases such as malaria, dysentery, and tuberculosis (Milano). In the 1860’s, medical procedures were very limited. Most of the time, being diagnosed with a disease like tuberculosis was akin to being handed a death s...

Bruce Joseph Robertson, 67, of Bozeman, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 21, 2023. • The "Not-So-Sly" Sly Racoon A "Trickster Tale"

    Eva Yeadon and Jai Baumann|Nov 1, 2023

It was a normal day for the town’s beloved store owner, Jack the Bunny. Jack was an old bunny; he wore rounded glasses on his rounded nose and fluffy sweaters over his rounded belly. He had a long gray beard and a smile that could light up the room. Early one spring morning, he was opening his shop when he realized it had become a disaster. Items were torn off the shelves, and all had fallen to the floor. With all of the vandalism, funny enough, nothing was missing except in one section – almost all the apple juice had been taken. Jack fou...
