    Lisa, Teal and Marlys stopped in "The Mountaineer" to start talking about the Christmas Stroll that is a short month away. This year's stroll is happening on December 5. Buttons and ugly sweaters were on the minds of the Chamber of Commerce representatives for this week. There are kids' buttons and adult buttons.   • Moore picked to attend National Convention

    Big Sandy School Superintendent Brad Moore will be attending a national conference in Phoenix, Arizona from February 10 through 16, 2016. He will be attending the conference with his wife and son. Two Montana Superintendents are picked from applications each year to attend the AASA (American Association of School Administrators) Convention which is sponsored by the Montana Association of School Superintendents. Jim Rouse of Browning is the other Superintendent to win the award this year....

    Thank Bob Quinn for the great pictures of filling the forms last week at the new library. Always there is a mystery. What was it that was discovered that day and how much would it cost to eliminate the problem? Was it a bomb? Was it an old bank vault? Was it buried treasure? Or an abandoned and leaking fuel tank? After spending $500.00 the library ladies found out it was a very old boiler. Safe one, too. So, it sleeps today as it probably has slept for the last hundred years. Probably not too...

    The theme for October was Find a Hauntingly good book in October. Thank you to each and every one of our donors. Story Hour has resumed and meets every Thursday at 10:45. The Library has “The Nightingales CD sale (Gaynell Gullickson, Tammy Upham, and Marcia Peterson). Proceeds from the sales go to the New Library Fund. The library has copies of “All the Light we Cannot see” and “The End of Your Life Book Club”, the two books the Book Club is reading in October and November.   • Big Sandy sweeps Bears at District 6c-East tournament, ends season with fourth place finish

    The Big Sandy Pioneer volleyball team finished the season this past weekend at the District 6C-East tournament, finishing fourth. The Pioneers began to put things together the last few weeks and earned a first round sweep of the Box Elder Bears 25-16, 25-20 and 25-22 to begin tournament play. The Bears won the first match of the season but it was Big Sandy that took the season series two matches to one.     Six rounds were completed by five tables with total points resulting in the following winners at the pinochle tournament held on Sunday, October 25th at the Mint. High round (four hands) for the day went to Roberta Whetham and Kristi Davidson with a 1960! There were a few other high rounds, but a lot more grumbling about “just can’t get the cards, etc. etc.” All wished Laurence Ophus well as he migrates south for the winter on Monday the 26th.
