  • Koren War Veteran, Chuck Comp

    Zoe Merrill|Nov 11, 2020

One of my favorite school activities is the Veterans Programs that were held these last few years. The afternoon started with a free meal for the Veterans at Senior Citizens. Afterward, you would go over to the FE Miley school for a Veteran's Program put on by the elementary students. I loved it because everyone would be wearing red, white and blue and the children would sing all kinds of patriotic songs. A small talk is given at the high school before every vet stood to their arm forces anthem...

    Erik Sietsema|Nov 11, 2020

Anyone in the last 13 years who has had reason to call or visit the elementary school has been greeted by the warm and cheerful voice of Cinda Pearson. Cinda is the school secretary at FE Miley Elementary School, though the kids have all sorts of job titles they call her by including "doctor" because she hands out bandaids. She wears many hats in the course of her day, which suits her just fine. "My favorite part of the job is the variety," she explained. "I'm not a sitting in my office and...

Managing horticultural landscapes and house plants in November is important to healthy production during the growing season. • Patching Cracks

    Erik Sietsema|Nov 11, 2020

Before coming to Big Sandy, the organization I worked for was struggling. As a result, my job had stretched to cover work left undone by folks who had been laid off or whose hours had been cut. I was often working six and seven day weeks. At times, I worked 12 hour days. Because I was a salaried employee, I could fill in gaps where needed. This persisted for months. I eventually reached a point where I was always tired and all of my hobbies and outside of work activities fell to the wayside. I don’t blame my employer, and I was happy to fill i...

    Thomas Dilworth|Nov 11, 2020

It's hard to find the right words to express the wide range of emotions felt Saturday in Medicine Lake as the Pioneer's championship hopes came to an end in a devastating loss to Froid/Medicine Lake. The Pioneers got off to a great start with Brady Plenninger striping the ball on the Redhawks first possession before Kade Strutz would rush in from 4 yards out the put the Pioneers up 6-0. Again the Pioneers would force another fumble and recovery on the next possession. Still, uncharacteristic pen...

  • River Ramblings North

    Beverly Terry|Nov 11, 2020

I want to give all the readers of my articles a thank you for the encouraging words for me to continue writing for the Mountaineer. I struggle with ideas. I usually get ideas when I visit with patrons using the ferry. This year I had many ferry crossings from people from the larger towns and cities. For most of them, it was their first time crossing the river on the ferry. The norm this year with the riders was, “I didn’t know this was here. We were looking for places to go and things to do in Montana with this pandemic. Man, I am so happy we...
