  • Big Sandy Farmhouse Christmas Stroll

    Zoe Merrill|Dec 11, 2024

The Big Sandy Christmas Stroll this weekend was a well-attended event. The weather was wonderful, too, so it was easy to go from one event to the other, and the kids enjoyed that! Craft projects for children took place at The Bakery, The Big Sandy Library, and The Club Bar. All three bars had a contest on a special holiday drink, and The Club won. I ate the best sandwich from Pep's: Caribbean pork. It was slow-roasted citrus pork with caramelized onions, garlic aioli, pickled jalapenos, romaine...

  • Sarcophagus of Saint Nicholas Discovered In Turkey

    Erik Sietsema|Dec 11, 2024

Over the weekend, news broke of a possible significant archeological discovery in the Antalya province of Turkey. The limestone sarcophagus could possibly have been the original burial site of the fourth century Christian bishop, Saint Nicholas. Saint Nick is best known for the character his life story elements evolved into: Santa Claus. The recent discovery is interesting on its own, but the story of the bishop and how it evolved into something so different is fascinating as well. The sarcophagus was unearthed near Saint Nicholas Church...

  • Quinn Institute News & View

    Dec 11, 2024

We have exciting news from our subterranean greenhouse! About 18 months ago, Bob planted this banana tree in his greenhouse and we finally spotted it's first flower in late October. It's quite incredible, especially considering that this means we may have fresh, homegrown bananas soon in Montana. These photos were taken in order once every week since it was first spotted. Just magical! Stay tuned as we watch it (hopefully) grow some bananas. "...

  • Thoughts with Zoe

    Zoe Merrill|Dec 11, 2024

The second week of advent is peace. When Jesus was born in Luke, it says. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.” So peace was mentioned immediately after He was born! Isaiah 9:6 says Jesus is the Prince of Peace. This is 700 years before Jesus was born. Perfect peace is possible through Jesus. This Christmas lean into Jesus. Cut out, tape to refrigerator, and read daily. December 11---Romans 12:18: “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” December 12--Romans 14:19: “Let us t...

  • Pioneer girls lose their first game to Roy/Winifred

    Dec 11, 2024

It's one of my favorite times of the year, yes, Christmas time, but also the start of basketball season! The Pioneers had their first games this past weekend, but like in past years, I will only be writing up Varsity games, and this past weekend, only the Lady Pioneers played against Winifred. So this article will be about their game. The referees set the tone with fouls from the get-go, with Keira Galbavy picking up her first right away, but a block from Keira also followed that. Both teams too...
