  • The Christmas Spirit is alive in Big Sandy

    Erik Sietsema|Dec 22, 2021

For a second consecutive year, the Big Sandy holiday tradition, The Christmas Stroll, has been cancelled due to concerns over recent spikes in Covid cases in Montana. Throughout the month, I have found myself watching Big Sandy adapt and celebrate the holiday without the beloved community gathering, and I would argue that in our own little way we have managed to do a low key version of the event. To make my point, I would like to share my own low key Christmas Stroll that has taken place...

  • Patching Cracks

    Erik Sietsema|Dec 22, 2021

This year I was challenged by a friend to go through an entire Christmas season preaching series without talking about shepherds. To clarify: the challenge wasn’t to not mention them at all, but rather to avoid expounding on how lowly, dirty, and socially rejected these guys were. While researching the topic a few years ago, I discovered a treasure trove of material about the profession in Jewish law and writings. Every time the topic comes up at Christmas, I find myself digging up this material and presenting it. Apparently, it has become e...

  • The Ghost of Christmas Future

    Anne Denning|Dec 22, 2021

I’m sure we all would love to give the Ghost Of Christmas Future a script. We all have an idea of how we want future Christmases to go. Some would hope for a little more money to be able to give their children more gifts at Christmas. Some just hope for enough money that they can enjoy Christmas without worrying about money for rent or groceries. Some, like myself, really hope they can spend Christmas with their family once more. In " A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, Scrooge is not the best of people in Christmas Present. The Ghost of his...

    Rhett Simenson|Dec 22, 2021

The Pioneers started their week on the road to face off against the Longhorns of Fort Benton, the first of three conference games of the week. Like the previous weekend, the Pioneers found themselves in a hard-fought battle in the first half of play; at the halftime break, the Longhorns had a 19-17 edge over the Pioneers, but the Pioneers held their own and kept the contest close. After three quarters, the Longhorn lead was three. The Pioneers needed a big quarter in the fourth if they wanted...

  • Lady Pioneers open conference play against Fort Benton

    Ella Jurenka|Dec 22, 2021

In Tuesday's contest, the Lady Longhorns jumped out to a significant lead in the first half of the game. The second half for the Pioneers was a huge improvement as they held their own going point for point. Shots began to fall for the Lady Pioneers, and the intensity of the defense increased. Sophomore Lainey Terry caught her rhythm behind the arc, going 3-3, finishing the game with 14 points. Freshman Eva Yeadon added 10 points and went 4-4 from the charity stripe. Jai Baumann added 5 points....
