'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there; The children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads; And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap, Had just settled down for a long winter's nap, When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter....

It is often used for riot control by police. Reflex Protect is an effective non-lethal spray. The Reflex shoots 15 feet and has a direct spray. Most pepper spray product has a single stream, this has two. It also has a patented design making it less likely to be accidentally deployed. "you don't want to be...
For the second year, the Sunshine Snippers 4-H club has chosen a project to help children in the area. They put a Christmas tree up at the grade school and decorated it with stocking hats, mittens, and gloves. This year they added a second tree at the Big Sandy Library. Interviewing children is difficult. I tried to visit with them, at the Christmas Stroll, while they were sitting wrapping presents for donations. They all said the same thing. "We wanted to help kids who didn't have anything."...

Christmas is more than a family gift-giving holiday. When my mother passed away from cancer close to Christmas, my fear was Christmas would never be magically again, but as I pondered the birth of Christ that Christmas was more powerful than any other. These lyrics by Andrew Peterson from Labor of Love tell the real story! "It was not a silent night. There was blood on the ground. You could hear a woman cry in the alleyways that night on the streets of David's town. The stable was not clean,...
In Luke’s account of the birth of Jesus, the reader is introduced to John the Baptist early in the story. John the Baptist was a popular preacher in ancient Israel whose messages prepared the ancient Jewish people for Jesus’ coming. In Luke’s gospel, John’s birth is an important part of the story of Christmas and includes some interesting elements. My favorite is a prophetic speech from John’s father that was probably adapted as a first century church hymn. In it, he describes the coming of God’s chosen deliverer in phrases and terminology that...
The tests are coming early for the Big Sandy boys basketball team and results in the opening weekend of District 9C play were mixed. The Pioneers (3-1, 1-1) split their first pair of league games with a 68-53 defeat Friday at Chinook before a thrilling 77-63 victory in a virtual track meet against Hays-Lodgepole. The Saturday night contest in their home gym provided no shortage of firepower. With a 49-31 halftime lead, the Pioneers were on pace to threaten the century mark before things slowed...
The Big Sandy girls could not keep pace with Chinook and Hays-Lodgepole in their first pair of league matchups this season. In the 9C opener Friday, the Lady Pioneers kept it competitive with the Sugarbeeters but fell 47-34 on the road, led by 13 points from senior Lainey Gregory. The home opener a night later proved an even tougher challenge. Hays-Lodgepole employed suffocating defense to force Pioneer turnovers and a devastating deluge of three-pointers out on the perimeter to win 62-14....
Big Sandy High School wrestlers are joining historical rivals again on the mat this winter. A pair of Big Sandy boys are competing with Fort Benton as teammates, not rivals, for the third season of co-op wrestling between the two schools, said coach Tucker Taylor. The hundreds of miles that will be logged this season just traveling to join their Longhorn teammates bear witness to the dedication of junior Bayley Genereux and freshman Tannin Baumann to the sport. Taylor works with the Big Sandy duo twice a week and they travel as a trio twice a...
