The Pioneer Wrestlers competed well over the weekend. On Thursday night they went a combined 10-2 as a team at the Fort Benton Mixer. The Big Sandy wrestling team opened their season competing in the Cascade "Badger" Invitational this past weekend. The Pioneer program has seven wrestlers this season; Quinn Rodewald(103), Leah LePinnet(114), Harley LaBuda(120), Sam Cox(132), Tannin Baumann(138), Sam Cox(205), and Darrell Sunchild (HWT). The Big Sandy Pioneers finally captured the Class C 6-Man State Championship after years of close calls. By far the largest crowd of the season showed up to watch the Pioneers make history. The title game featured the Broadview-Lavina Pirates versus the hometown Big Sandy Pioneers. Both the Pirates and the Pioneers entered the game unbeaten on the season.
