Big Sandy defeated Cascade in their game Tuesday September 21 and according to Coach Brittany McKenney the Cascade game was an exciting win for the Varsity Lady Pioneers. The Big Sandy Pioneers, still plagued with the loss of starters due to injuries and illness, came up with a solid 32-12 win over Sunburst Refiners. The Pioneer Ladies Volleyball team beat Hays in three sets on Friday night. According to Coach Brittany McKenney “It was a good confidence boost for the girls to get another win under our belt. Keira Oats really stepped up to the plate and led the team with nine kills. She is getting stronger every time she steps foot on the court. Pioneers won the toss and chose to receive. They got off to a slow start and had to turn the ball over to the Savage team who managed to move quickly downfield, however, the Pioneer defense stopped them at the door and took over the ball at the 20-yard line. The Big Sandy swimmers placed second at the Western Divisional Swim Meet held in Conrad this weekend. The team scored 559 points, which qualified 26 of the 27 Barracudas to swim in the AA division at the state meet next weekend in Columbia Falls. The Big Sandy Swim Team took 1st place at the Harlem swim meet this weekend. The team was led by a phenomenal performance from senior swimmer Brady Pleninger, who set three new federation records this weekend.
