Big Sandy tops Box Elder, District 6C-East Tournament starts Thursday

The Big Sandy Pioneers will head to the District 6C-East tournament this Thursday and Friday in Gildford with a little momentum on their side.

The Pioneers moved up one spot in the standings with a 3-1 win over the Box Elder Bears Saturday night. Junior Alana Ostrom led an effective offensive attack that saw the team record a season high 32 kills in the match. Ostrom collected 12 of those. Sophomore Jenna Leader served up 22 assists in the win and senior Cheyenne Pegar recorded 11 aces and dug up a team high 13 balls.

Big Sandy will begin tournament play against the Bears tomorrow (Thursday) at 10 a.m. The winner will advance to play top seeded Chinook in the first semi-final.
