Griswold Party & Parade

Griswold Christmas and Parade

Lianna Heimbigner and Lisa Meyers, members of the Big Sandy Chamber of Commerce, were in “the Mountaineer” last week explaining about a Griswold Christmas in Big Sandy and the Stroll Parade.

Griswold Christmas

The Griswold Christmas is just around the corner. It starts on Friday, November 20 at 1pm and is a time when the Chamber of Commerce encourages the community to come down to Main Street and decorate the nines out of it!

If there are lights hanging out of lights and more lights, that still is not enough Christmas lights for the Main Street event.

Meyers said, “This is a fun occasion and a time for the community to get together and really make Main Street look beautiful for Christmas.”

The Chamber of Commerce goal is to give Main Street a real Christmas feel for the December 5th Stroll.

Lianna Heimbigner said that even though the Chamber is just helping Main Street businesses, it is also a time for all businesses in Big Sandy to decorate themselves for Christmas so that wonderful feeling floats all across the town.

Parade

Remember, when it comes to the Christmas Stroll Parade, keep your entry to the theme of this year’s stroll, “When Big Sandy Freezes Over.”

Parade registration forms are available at Agri-Prairie or at the Chamber of Commerce at Box 411 in Big Sandy.

Dave Louvar is the Parade Marshall. Come to him at The Grocery Store with any parade questions.

Parade lineup is 5:15pm in front of Larry Ophus’ house. The parade starts at 5:30.

There are three big prizes for Parade entries.

First place is $250.00 in Chamber bucks; Second place is $150.00 in Chamber Bucks and the People’s Choice Award is $100.00 in Chamber Bucks and is donated by The Mint.

Remember, the Button drawing is December 5, after the Parade, at 6:30pm at Jerry Martin Memorial Hall. Your button must be present to win.

A rich display of button prizes is being shown at Wells Fargo Bank in Big Sandy.

While you are looking at the prizes, pick up an “Ugly Sweater” blank and enter that contest yourself. Who knows what you might come home with!

Buttons are on sale at local stroll sponsors now for $5.00 each.

This Stroll is for you! Don’t you miss it!
