Marla Ray, representing library fund raisers, Dee Pribyl and Ann Quinn were in “The Mountaineer” this week updating the fund raising efforts for the new library.
Since construction has started on the project, it is good to know that the group does not have a long way to go with fundraising to reach their goal.
Matter of fact, they need to raise short of $90,000 with a couple of grants in the works that would lower that to about $70,00.
The group is still working on grants as well. A grant for around $20.000 has just come in.
The fundraising group has said that while working on this project, so many donations have come, big and small, local and from far away, that it is all unbelievable and quite wonderful!
One popular donation is still open to the public and is perfect for givers, large and small. It is called a Money Mile. For two dollar bills a person can buy a portion of the Money Mile and are donate to the library.
At the Christmas Stroll, in the Crafters Building, the fundraisers will have a table filled with goodies of all kinds. Raffle tickets and the like will take baskets filled with all sorts of perfect edibles and non edibles, all just perfect for holiday gifts or gifts to give yourself for Christmas and still be donating to make our new library complete.
The Library fund raisers want to thank Greg Ramsey for donating his time and equipment to get the tank out of the library basement. That story was covered in last week’s “Mountaineer”.
And in another positive note, the County Commissioners have turned the deed for the property over to the County Libraries Foundation.
So, don’t miss the Library Fundraising activities when you are strolling through good old Big Sandy next Saturday!
