BSHS students accepted to Honor band & Choir

Big Sandy had five students attend Honor Band and Choir in Choteau on Nov. 30th and Dec. 1st. The following students auditioned and were accepted for this event: Eric Schwarzbach on Trumpet 1, Mariah Sheehy on Clarinet 1, Dakota Terry on Clarinet 2, Grace Finke on Alto Clarinet, and Chandra Schwarzbach singing Soprano 2. Their guest band conductor was Dusty Molyneaux from Great Falls and the guest choir director was Troy Bashor from Frenchtown, with his wife Anne Bashor accompanying on the piano. There were about 60 kids in the band and about 90 kids in the choir, all made of students from music districts 6 and 7. The students worked hard on their music before this festival and then once they got to Choteau, they rehearsed for two days and gave a remarkable performance Tuesday night. The band performed Westridge Overture by James Barnes, Brazilian Folk Dance Suite arranged by William E. Rhoads, Rippling Watercolors by Brian Balmages, Cobra Dance by Joel Spineti, and Black Watch by Claude T. Smith. The choir performed Luk Luk Lumbu by Budi Susanto Yahones, Mashed Potato/Love Poem by Sidney Hoddes/Paul Carey, This Old Hammer arranged by Neil Ginsberg, Suo-Gan (Soothing Song) arranged by Jack Noble White, Betelehemu (Nigerian Christmas Song) arranged by Barrington Brooks, and Let Everything That Hath Breath by Jeffery L. Ames.
