Level 2 Master Gardener Class in Fort Benton
If you have passed your Master Gardener Level 1 test, you are eligible to participate in Master Gardener Level 2 class in Fort Benton.
Tyler Lane (MSU Extension Chouteau County) will be teaching the first section of level 2 Master Gardener at the Chouteau County Memorial Ambulance Building located at 810 15th Street. The first class will begin on February, 18 from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Tyler will cover binomial nomenclature, soils, nutrients and fertilizers.
On February 25th, Toby Day (MSU Extension Horticultural Associate) will be teaching Plant Growth and Development.
Certification as a level 2 Master Gardener can be attained by attending 16 hours of class time, passing a closed-book exam and fulfilling a volunteer commitment of a minimum of 20 hours. Educators will be Toby Day, Tyler Lane, plant professionals, and Master Gardener volunteers. For a $20.00 fee, participants will receive informative handouts pertaining to the class.
Level 2 Master Gardener participants will learn about:
• Binomial nomenclature
• Soils, Nutrients and fertilizers
• Plant growth and development
• Insect identification
• Insects of woody ornamentals
• Diseases of woody ornamentals
• Diseases and pests of vegetables
• Extending the growing season
• Diseases and pests of trees and small fruit
• Turfgrass pests
• Plant propagation
