CARING FOR OUR RESIDENTS

National Nursing Home week is May 8th-14th. The residents and staff of Big Sandy Medical Center (BSMC) would like to invite the community to an Ice Cream Social on Friday, May 13th at 2:00pm in the facility dining room. Please come join residents and staff for an afternoon of ice cream and conversation.

Nursing Home week is an excellent time to express appreciation for the dedicated staff caring for our residents. Our Medical Staff consisting of Dr. Carley Robertson, MD; Krystyl Kulbeck, PA-C; Bob Denning, PA-C; and Nicole Legere, FNP, work closely with the residents, their families, and BSMC staff to assure all residents’ needs are met.

Direct care staff includes RN’s, LPN’s, and CNA’s. There are too many to list; you know who you are! We also need to recognize Physical Therapist, Kurt Strutz. He keeps our residents moving! These are the front-line staff that cares for the residents 24 hours a day. Your dedication and love for your jobs are what makes the nursing home a wonderful place. We appreciate all you do!

Others that contribute in providing care and all the necessities for our residents are Lisa Sipler in Activities, Reggie Jappe in Social Services, and Pam Gasvoda and Laci LaBuda in Care Planning. These ladies interact closely with families, plan events and activities, coordinate resident appointments, and so much more. Thank you, Ladies!

Nadine Poitra and Kathy Rice in Laundry, and Leroy Richardson, John Field, and Jamie Moak in Housekeeping contribute so much to the homey environment and do a wonderful job keeping everything clean and tidy. Our residents and staff appreciate all you do!

The Dietary Staff, again too many to name, provides the necessary nourishment to keep our residents healthy and happy. The time and effort you put into each and every meal shows your love for our residents. Keep up the good work!

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the many ancillary workers; including Clinic staff, Business Office and Medical Records Staff, Infection Prevention, Laboratory, Radiology, Maintenance, and others that are a part of the care we provide our residents. We are all a team, working together to provide the best possible care. Thank you all!

And to the many volunteers and community groups that take time out of their busy lives to share with our residents…you are truly amazing people with hearts of gold!

Finally, to those who have dedicated their lives to BSMC for many years:

Del Simon, 40 years

Amber Beaudette, 39 years

Nora Grubb, 32 years

Donna Fetsch, 25 years

Kathy Rice, 24 years

You are each a true testament to what it means to put everything into what you love to do. You are an inspiration to all and appreciated greatly! Thank you for your years of service to BSMC.
