Chouteau County Fair Rocks

Blast yourself out of the Past and hold on to your hats and come running to the Chouteau County Fair on August 18 through 21 in Fort Benton.

There is the Barbecue throwdown on Thursday, August 18 at 5pm and while area barbecue specialists compete for the honor of the best barbecue ever, thanks to The Grocery Store in Big Sandy, the rest of us get to enjoy the fruits of their labor in a free barbecue meal that evening.

And, providing the pigs don’t run and hide in the mighty Missouri, there is a pig wrestling contest and pig wrestling Calcutta at 7:30pm on August 19. Oh, yes and Fair promoters remind fair goers that if you buy lunch at the Fair you receive a buck off the night show ticket price.

As always there are free stage events, like the Bonk Game Show and hypnotist Michael Swenson going on all day every day.

On Saturday, August 20 at 7pm there will be the Western Grand National Truck Pulling series. This promises to be very entertaining and features trucks and tractor. Fair officials say that local diesel and gas trucks are welcome as well.

On Sunday, August 21 at 6pm is the always favorite Demolition Derby. There is a Calcutta for main event cars and a new chain and go event that sounds like what demolition derbies used to be all about.

There are attractions available every day like sky fall, free fall, bounce off the Waliz, laser tag and water walkers.

Don’t you dare forget about that fabulous fair food. In addition to the best barbecue you have ever eaten on Thursday night, there are many vendors ready to load you with sinfully delicious fried and non fried foods and desserts to make your mouth water every day at the fair.

Talk about a Blast from the Past. This fair appears to have something for just about everyone young and old. Don’t miss the big fun event of the year, the always great Chouteau County Fair!
