Pre-Fair 4-H Year in Review

With the Chouteau County Fair beginning next week, the Chouteau County Extension office would like to congratulate all of the 4-H members of Chouteau County on their achievements this past 4-H year.

Over the past nine months, many 4-Hers have been busy fulfilling their 2015-16 4-H year goals by completing and caring for their projects, competing in contests and competitions, engaging in “learn by doing” workshops and activities and community service.

Below is a summary of the results of the 4-H contests and competitions the Chouteau County 4-H members participated in.

4-H members represented our county well during the state archery contest. Nicholas Woods placed 1st in 3D Bare Bow (ages 11-12), Jacquelynn Bomgardner placed 1st in 3D Olympic Recurve (ages 15-18), Cody Kuhn placed 1st in 3D Unlimited and tied for 3rd in Target Unlimited (ages 15-18), Jackson Wright placed 3rd in 3D Unlimited (ages 11-12), Jaden Good placed 1st in Target Bare Bow, 2nd in Target Limited and 3rd in 3D Limited (ages 13-14).

Chouteau County Project/Demonstration Day took place in Fort Benton on June 3. Demonstration winners included Jay McCullough in the junior division (ages 9-10), and Brook Bomgardner in the junior division (ages 11-13). The Senior division demonstration winner was Andrea Rutledge.

Jacquelynn and Jordee Bomgardner placed 1st in the Montana 4-H Congress Stir-Ups contest.

In addition, Chouteau County Extension would also like to thank our 4-H club organizational leaders for guiding and preparing our 4-H youth through club meetings, competitions, workshops and community service. The Chouteau County 4-H organizational leaders include: Kelly Crowder (Arrowhead 4-H Club/Highwood), Kathy Meyers (Stir, Stitch ’N’ Stirrup 4-H Club/Fort Benton), Kristie Rutledge (Sunshine Snippers 4-H Club/Big Sandy), Corrie and Tim Seaman (Willing Workers 4-H Club/Geraldine), Charlie Good (Archery) and Daniel Grove (Shooting Sports).

We recognize it takes significant hours and efforts of many individuals to make a 4-H year a great success. Our gratitude goes out to everyone who has made this possible this year. We hope you will join us at the fair to recognize and support the Chouteau County 4-H program.
