The Lady Pioneers fall To CJI and bring home a win in Hays

I got a chance to go watch the Lady Pioneers in action on Thursday vs. Chester-Joplin-Inverness. I was able to watch both the Junior High ladies and the varsity squad. I just want to mention Miss Blanton. Her running underhand serve would psych out Karch Kiraly on the beach any day. Then her courage to sing the national anthem to kick-off the varsity game and the way this lady carries herself on a daily basis should be a lesson to us all. It was a big weekend for Junior high sports this weekend with a volleyball jamboree and soccer shootout on Saturday putting plenty of cars in town.

The varsity Lady Pioneers did not come up with a win against Chester-Joplin-Inverness on Thursday, but kept the score close 11-25, 22-25, 17-25. Andrea Rutledge showed her diversity on the floor using her feet at times to keep the volley alive. The team is still looking for that natural groove of bump-set-spike. As everyone becomes more aware of where there setter Jasmine Genereux is on the floor at all times and spikers Jessica Roth and Jaylyn Cline find their confidence for the kill they will begin to dominate the league. The Pioneers do have a knack of making not so pretty plays get over the net and score points on the other team's mistakes. With a young squad the prospects for Big Sandy Volleyball is looking up.

The Ladies traveled over the Bear Paws to Hays/Lodge Pole to post their first win of the season on Friday. This is just what the doctor ordered to get the Lady Pioneers thirst for victory going. The ladies will be back at home this week against Chinook on Thursday and Belt on Saturday and an away game Friday keeping them busy. Let's give Belt a big surprise on Saturday Ladies.
