The men in Purple had more total offense and lead 20-6 at the half and hung on 28-26 at the end of the third quarter but the end result is not one of fairy tales. 41-47.
One could rattle on about injuries or a young squad coming of age, but looking at the stats we should have won. The stats just didn't happen when we needed them to. Offense stats we got Weston Allderdice putting up 320 yards rushing and Jordan Schwarzbach adding a rushing touchdown making total offense 353 to Northstars 344 and over five minutes more possession time. On defense Duke Darlington lead the attack with 13 tackles with contributions from many. It just wasn't in the cards for Big Sandy in the fourth quarter.
A second week in a row of a tough defeat. Six man football is a tough game of football. Scores can run back and forth with little prediction. The Pioneer squad is tough and is finding lessons in these two losses. Once in the playoffs all is even again and the gloves come off.
Next week against Valier it will be a whole new season beginning for the Men in Purple. Now with their record 3-2 they are in the thick of playoff pressure and CHILI FEED REBOOT is in order. The next two weeks of Pioneer home football games is going to get them back on track for an exciting playoff season. Sunburst and Northstar are very solid teams and the Pioneer squad will take lessons from these defeats and use them as learning tools for the season to come.
