Lindland lands new Pharmacy

For a town the size of Big Sandy, it is as important to have as many services as the town can possibly hold. To have a medical center, a grocery store, several cafes and a bakery/deli and even Big Sandy Activities is important, not to mention very high quality schools.

So, a few years ago when a new pharmacy came to Big Sandy, it was just the frosting on the cake. All of a sudden there was another medical presence in Big Sandy and when you consider that the average person sees his or her doctor once or twice a year but his or her pharmacist maybe as much as forty times a year, that shows how important a pharmacy is for any town but especially for Big Sandy.

Well, since July 1 the Big Sandy Pharmacy has had a new pharmacist at the helm. Danielle Lindland hails from Great Falls and got her doctor of pharmacy from the Pharmacy School at Wingate, North Carolina.

After graduating from Charles Russell High School in Great Falls Lindland said she had wanted to go to school at Bozeman and started with Animal Science.

"I found I was interested in science and biology. So I went to the University of Great Falls after changing my major to biology. Later I did my pharmacy work at the pharmacy school at Wingate, North Carolina and found I liked it there."

Lindland went on to say that the rural areas of North Carolina around Charlotte are a lot like Montana.

So, why in the world isn't she still practicing pharmacy in North Carolina?

Simple, while in North Carolina she met Daniel Weaver. They got engaged and here she is in Big Sandy, Montana.

Lindland loves Big Sandy, loves the pharmacy and is engaged to a Big Sandy native so it looks like she will be around a long time to administer to the needs of those needing medications and advice.

Several new programs are starting up at the Big Sandy Pharmacy. For instance the

See Page 3: Pharmacy Pharmacy found a grant where they can monitor and make sure that a person's blood pressure is where they need it to be. All this is done at no cost to the patient. Just come in and get checked out. From then on that patient's blood pressure will be monitored as it is such an important medical fact to keep blood pressure where it should be. To take advantage of this program, Lindland said to come in anytime and get started.

In addition, last Monday the Big Sandy Pharmacy started giving vaccinations. Flu shots and shingles shots are on the menu. To get going on them just bring your insurance card with you anytime you come in.

There is always an argument as to whether to get a flu shot earlier, like now, or later. No argument this year. The CDC says get that flu shot now!

Look for more services from the Big Sandy Pharmacy later this year as they strive to be as helpful to the Big Sandy population as they ever could be.

When you come in to ask what is new at the Big Sandy Pharmacy, be prepared to be pleasantly surprised with the answers to your questions.

Meanwhile welcome Danielle Lindland to Big Sandy. From the looks of her big smile, this place is agreeing with her very well!
