Come listen to an unforgettable concert Tuesday, January 31st, when Chouteau County Performing Arts, in partnership with the Grand Union Hotel, present Too Marvelous for Words, a Nat King Cole tribute show. This concert starts at 7 PM at the Fort Benton Elementary School auditorium.
Created by Rob Perkins and Peter Smith, "Too Marvelous For Words" is a fun and swingin' journey into the early days of Nat King Cole. Before "The Christmas Song" and "Mona Lisa" that we know from the crooner standing in front of the orchestra, Nat was recording and playing (from the piano bench!) some of the tastiest and most influential music of the day, leaving an impact not only on an array of singers, but also on such pianists as Oscar Peterson and Ahmad Jamal.
Drawing on his experience as both an actor and a singer/pianist, Peter Smith (co-creator) effortlessly weaves in stories from this period in Nat King Cole's life as they relate to the song selections, creating an evening that is fun, informative and leaves the audiences tapping their feet and pondering the fascinating tidbits from Nat's life. Accompanying Peter Smith are John Storie on guitar and vocals and Alex Frank on bass and vocals. For a preview peek find them on Face book or kmpartists.com/too-marvelous-for-words.
Admission is by CCPA season ticket or $15 at the door. All current Chouteau County students get free admission. For more information on this or other CCPA concerts please call 750-2918.
