Super Bowl 51 will be played in Houston on February 5 and might just end up as a battle between two quarterbacks, Tom Brady of the Patriots and Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons. The teams are unevenly matched if looking at this season’s wins and losses. The Patriots record 16 and 2 winning nine consecutive games and have not even trailed since November 27.
Atlanta’s record is 13 and 5 and they have won the last six in a row.
That is what each team is facing going into Super Bowl 51.
However, folks from all over know that a Super Bowl is much more than even the score of the game. It is about eating, drinking, watching the best commercials of the year and getting together with family and friends all over the United States.
Once in a while there should be a fact or two thrown in so here is one for your personal record books. There are more potato chips and tortilla chips consumed on Super Bowl Sunday than any other day of the year.
There is something else to take into consideration with the Patriots and the Falcons. Two other teams lost to those teams. Those were Green Bay and the Steelers. That is sort of overwhelming itself that those really great and old teams would both lose to the Patriots and Falcons.
If the Falcons read the press clippings about the Patriots that have been floating around all year long, they will have a very difficult time winning Super Bowl 51. Sports shows and newspapers alike have been bragging up Coach Bill Belichick all season long. Again and again people like sports gurus have said that Coach Belichick is the greatest coach to ever coach the game of football. I have heard that month after month from last summer on. Then there is the status of Tom Brady as quarterback. In the last few years there have been essentially two Tom Brady’s playing in each game. There is always the fired up Brady of old who is going to win every game he plays in. But there is a new Tom Brady, tired and seemingly not trying as hard.
Since last fall when he finally had to serve his suspension of not playing in four games due to his alleged part in Deflategate, there has been a new Tom Brady on deck. He just simply wins game after game, has all season and probably will come out of this game with a new Super Bowl ring.
There is a huge amount of jive about Tom Brady. Again and again I hear reporters and commentators saying that Tom is the best quarterback to ever play the game. They compare him to the Manning Brothers, Joe Montana, Steve Young and Troy Aikman and Brady comes out on top in poll after poll.
Now, one thing that a
See Page 5: Super bowlperson should take into consideration too is that if there ever was a team really hungry for a Super Bowl win it would be the Atlanta Falcons who have been in one Super Bowl against Denver but never won a single one. Boy that should bring forth some huge motivation.
Well, we will see Sunday what happens. I guess if I had to pick a winner it would be the Patriots.
