Best Superbowl Ever!

Most anyone who knows me at all knows that the Patriots and the Seahawks are my two NFL teams. I have written again and again how the Patriots got the shaft with Deflategate and how quarterback Tom Brady should not have had a four game suspension at the beginning of this season and how the Patriots should not have been fined a million dollars and lose two draft picks.

And yet, there was always another thought running around in my head and that is that will owner Robert Kraft, coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady be so mad that nothing could possibly stop them from winning Superbowl 51?

The season rolled along and the Patriots record looked very good most of the time. When they played the American League conference championship game, they looked good.

I have noticed in the last three years or so that Tom Brady is either really good or really bad and one does not know which one is going to be playing on any given Sunday. But this season Tom Brady looked good most of the season.

So, the Atlanta Falcons won the National League and Super Bowl 51 was set. On the day of the game the first half was all Atlanta as you know if you watched the game. If memory serves at the half it was Atlanta 28 and New England 3. That was when Tom Brady went into his huddle and uttered his now famous remark, “We’ve got them where we want them now.”

At the start of the third quarter it was more of the same with neither team doing much. It took until the fourth quarter for Brady and Belichick to really get their act together and get the game into the first overtime ever for a Superbowl! Did I think they could catch up for that? No, I did not. I thought that Atlanta had won the game.

However when the Patriots won the overtime toss, I knew they were going to win that game. The final score was 34 to 28 and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was booed when he presented the trophy to the Patriots. Talk about poetic justice.

Most people say that Belichick and Brady are the best to play the game ever. I agree. Most people say that the Patriots are unbelievable and I believe that too.

Will we ever see another game like that one? No probably not but we saw that one and that was enough for a lifetime!
