Canning Class—Meals in a Jar, First Christian Church, 1201 Main St, Fort Benton. We will begin at 5:30 pm. Join us for an evening of hands-on learning and fun. You will experience making two recipes and additional meals in a jar recipe options will be available for tasting. The basics of pressure canning and safe food handling will be covered and you will receive research-based recipes and resources to take home. If you have been afraid of pressure canning, this class is a great opportunity! Or, even if you have a lot of experience pressure canning, come share your experiences and brush up on what is new regarding the safety of canning. Pre-registration is required by calling 622-3036. The cost is $15. Space is limited.

Recycling Bonanza, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, Dedman Foundation Parking Lot, 1410 24th St, Fort Benton. If the Spring cleaning bug has bitten you, we will accept the following: CPU/towers only (additional electronic equipment may be recycled at Staples in Great Falls, call 453-0900); household batteries (sorted by chemical type—no liquid batteries will be accepted); reusable paint—all kinds; shoes—gently used or better; clothing and accessories (sorted by clothing type, ie shirts, pants, coats, belts); steel cans; cardboard; newspaper/magazines/paper; eye glasses; phone books; aluminum cans (separate from steel cans); fabric yardage for 4-H and other community service projects; and for this collection only--#1 and #2 plastics with screw on lids/tops. Scrap metal and appliances will also be collected. Friends of the Library will be collecting books for their book sale that takes place during Summer Celebration (no encyclopedias or other sets of reference books will be taken.) Paper shredding will be available. Heavy items such as appliances and scrap metals will be able to be unloaded first in the line-up.
