Prairie Blossom Floral

"The Mountaineer" has featured stories before about Tina Rodewald and her Prairie Blossoms Floral. Those stories come out around Easter and are about the only time we think about Tina, her daughter-in-law Traci and their flowers. It is easy to forget about Prairie Blossoms because they don't have a store front. However, they are a full service flower shop and are just another business in our town that makes Big Sandy great! Tina's fresh flowers can always be found in a flower case in The Grocery Store and often she teams up with the lumber yard to sell hanging baskets and bedding plants around Mother's Day.

Tina Rodewald came to Big Sandy about eleven years ago and saw a need for a flower shop so in 2008 she and her daughter-in-law opened up Prairie Blossoms.

Tina admits she didn't know a lot about flowers when she started the flower business but a lady from Victor told her that a flower business is a valuable business, just like any other and that inspired Tina to get started.

She had a lot to learn.

"I had to learn how to arrange flowers and even more important how to order flowers and how to store them for maximum life," said Tina.

Cut flowers are always available all year long. Tulips are available now for Easter as are the ever popular Easter lilies.

For Christmas there are greens, garland and wreaths made in the Bitterroot Valley and always bright red poinsettias for that Christmas table.

Tina learned from her customers that flowers tend to perk people up. They are as comforting as apple pie and chicken noodle soup and when you come into a home and smell an Easter lily, it is like a little part of you has already gone to heaven.

To keep flowers fresh Tina says they come in twice a week, on Monday and Thursday.

Shades of Tiny Tim singing "Tip Toe through the tulips", Tina brought in a pot of bright tulips for us to share with our newspaper customers and to take a picture of to share with all our readers.

Easter is the end of this week. Don't forget to get your Easter lily while supplies still last. Contact Tina Rodewald at 378-2565 or Traci Rodewald at 378-2547.
