A three-day horsemanship class will be held July 14-16 at the Fergus County Fairgrounds in Lewistown.
Kip Fladland, a native Montanan who currently resides in Council Bluffs, Iowa, is the clinic instructor. Kip traveled exclusively with Buck Brannanman for five years, and now starts and rides horses for clients. Throughout the year he holds clinics, teaching the style of horsemanship brought about by Tom and Bill Dorrance and Ray Hunt.
The Lewistown clinic begins with a groundwork class from 9 a.m. to noon each day. This class will address having a respectful horse on the halter as well as under saddle. The afternoon portion of the clinic will be a horsemanship 1 class for horses under saddle.
If you have any questions concerning the clinic, please contact Brenda Yirsa at 406-386-2283 who can provide registration forms and more specific details for participants and spectators. Brenda took his class last summer and found him to be very good at making clear what you need to do with your own horse.
If this summer's clinic is successful, there is the possibility of having Kip come to Lewistown next summer to do a colt starting, cattle working, ranch roping or Horsemanship 2 class.
