August birthdays include Ron Otto, Skip Grubb, Jessica Sietsema, Patty Hannum, Marlene Terry, Evelyn Peterson, Nicole Allderdice, Gin Edwards, Clete Ophus, Tina Rodewald and Lance Rutledge.

A huge sashay around the ball room floor while Glenn Miller plays Pennsylvania 6-5000 for August anniversaries including David and Cindy DesRosier, Dave and Deb Louvar, Andy and Peggy LaBuda, Lyle and Barb Ophus and Lawrence and Connie Green.

Special events in August include the Senior Citizens Board Meeting on Augusts 16 and the County Fair on August 17 through 20.

Contact the Senior Citizens Cooks at 378-2405. Don’t forget those harvest lunches. What a great way to keep your own kitchen cool at least for lunch.

Menus for the coming week are as follows:

Wednesday, August 2 pork chow mein with rice, salad, bread and dessert. How about this as the Lunch for the Week! Well played cooks!

Thursday, August 3 tilapia, buttered potatoes, salad, bread and dessert.

Friday, August 4 grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, with On Wisconsin cheese soup for yet another Lunch of the Week. Cooks hit a double this week!

Monday, August 7 tator tot casserole, salad, bread and dessert.

Tuesday, August 8 hot turkey sandwiches, veggies, salad and dessert.

This week the cooks suggest making a Reuben Dip.

You will need

½ cup mayonnaise

½ cup Thousand Island dressing

6 oz. sauerkraut, rinsed and squeezed dry

8 oz. shredded corn beef

16 oz shredded Swiss cheese

Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees

In a small bowl mix the mayo and the dressing

Spread sauerkraut into a 9 by 13 inch baking dish. Layer corned beef, Swiss cheese and the Mayo-dressing mixture on top of the sauerkraut.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Yum, yum, that sounds good!
