Chamber of Commerce people have heard that more and more Big Sandy is getting a very good reputation for having many Christmas lights each Christmas Season.
That all starts soon now with the Griswold Christmas Party. That is an occasion for business people along with residential dwellers to bring out their Christmas lights and hang them while it is still fairly warm out, then head to Agri-Prairie for Tom and Jerrys and good cheer.
The Griswold Christmas Party starts on November 17 around 12:30pm. The more people that are there, the more lights can be strung keeping Big Sandy with its tradition of the Christmas Light City of US 87.
Marlys Edmonds reminds people that the lights are not just to be up downtown but all over town as well. In recent years several farms have had lights on their fence posts while coming into Big Sandy and that really looks great.
Rotary lights went up on October 30. There is a new Christmas light over the arch at the Fireman’s Park that really looks beautiful this season.
In the past Rotary has furnished lights for the Paul Williams Memorial Park and the FFA strung them along the fence next to Highway 87. this year the Chamber of Commerce is going to pick up more lights for that park and the FFA gets a big thank you for all their work of getting them up and on.
All that work just adds to making Big Sandy the Christmas Light City between Havre and Great Falls.
The Griswold Christmas Party has been going on for several years now. This year a couple of new ideas have germinated making this maybe the very best Christmas Stroll of all!
The Chamber of Commerce has ordered materials to make snowmen and will be having a snowman contest at the Paul Williams Memorial Park on December 2, the afternoon of the Stroll. This is a kids’ event and the idea is to make the very best snowman.
No snow, that event will be canceled but lets hope for lots of snow and some of the most memorable snowmen ever!
And, for anyone who has ever thought that the taco is the most perfect sandwich ever, Cow Pattie’s Cook Shack will be selling hot tamales, Mexican lunches and hot drinks all day long on December 2. The Cook Shack will be located at the Fireman’s Park all that day.
It looks like, as usual, Big Sandy on that one December day will be filled with the spirit of Christmas Joy. Join in. you know that joy is catching!
