On Thursday, November 16, the Friends of the Library met with librarian Darlene Cline in the meeting room of the Big Sandy library. Main items on the agenda were 1. Christmas Stroll plans finalized, 2. Darlene’s library update. Old Business centered on nailing down our plans for the day of the Christmas Stroll. The library will be open from 9-4, with quilt raffle tickets for sale all that day. The winner will be drawn that afternoon and announced at the Button Drawing for prizes at City Hall that evening. Friends of the Library will be on hand to help with children’s crafts from 1-3 PM and throughout the day with hot cider and cookies for all who stop by.
Janis Kaiser asked about several items she had donated to the library many years ago that had been stored at the airport. Darlene will check on the glass display case, in particular. Janis again expressed her deep thanks for all the hard work that was involved to make this library, which is dedicated to her son Jeff’s memory, a reality.
Darlene reported that memorials steadily flow in for our library, as well as offers for equipment from local businesses. Thank you to those who continue to support our library! Many people ask about donating books: only hard-covered books will be accepted.
Our next meeting will be Thursday, January 18 at 3:00. All interested persons are welcome! Hope to see you all out enjoying the Christmas Stroll on December 2. Stop by!
