Big Sandy Education Foundation Awards Grants

The Big Sandy Education Foundation Board of Directors met earlier this winter to discuss ways to distribute some generous donations to enhance the educational opportunities for the students. After a great deal of discussion the Board decided to develop a grant program where teachers could apply to the Foundation for funding to enhance their programs. It was determined that grants would be awarded for exceptional projects or activities that are not part of the normal expenditures of the school district and would not be available without the funds from the Foundation.

The Foundation awarded just short of $6,000 for three student projects /activities. The Music, Health and Science Departments were each awarded Foundation Funds. The music department received funds to purchase a marimba for their percussion section of the band. The Health department acquired funds to purchase equipment for Yuki-ball which is a health activity that is suitable for all grade levels. The Science department received their funds to help with International Science Fair Projects.

The Big Sandy Education Foundation is proud to be able to make these donations to enhance the educational opportunities for the students and staff of Big Sandy Schools. The Foundation Board of Directors would like to thank all the donors that have helped make this possible.
