The Big Sandy City Council met April 5th at 7:00 p.m. at city hall. Pledge of Allegiance started the meeting.
A short discussion about repairing the city streets after the winter’s destruction of them. It was noted there were a lot of potholes. They have about 1,000 to 2,000 yards of replacement asphalt which should be enough to do all the repairs. The street that goes by the phone building is not really asphalt. It only has two layers of chip and seal on top and going down the center of the street below those two layers is a concrete vault that holds the fiber optics. That is why the street has so many potholes.
Big Sandy will be sending Wendy Kleinsasser along with Rotary members to a meeting discussing a Walking Path.
During Sheriff Deputy Dennis Hale’s report, it was noted that there wasn’t much to report but he gave a ticket to a motorist who was going 60 miles an hour through town.
New Water Project is drawing its first financial draw down to pay for the project. It is hoped to be finalized by late summer. Paperwork was signed Resolution 2018—12: A Rural Development loan approved for the water project of $499,000.
Under New Business Leslie Gregory reported the pool is full of ice and the winter tarp will need to be repaired or replaced. It is ripped. Other repairs or new equipment that will be needed this year is a summer tarp, new drain covers, ladders, and maybe a new slide. The pool house needs to be painted this summer. The swimming program is a huge success. People are calling from Loma, Kremlin, and even Havre to get swimming lessons. The City Council wants to review all pool issues at the next City Council meeting, including Season Pass Fees, the number of life guards present and when they should be present, along with total Pool Capacity.

The 2nd work meeting of the city council will be to crunch numbers April 11, 6:00 p.m. to determine how much we will all be paying for water. The public is welcome to come. There will be a 3rd working meeting, before they hold public comment meetings.
