The Big Sandy Pioneer volleyball team concluded the regular season last Monday with a 3-1 (25-4, 25-20, 20-25, 25-11) win over the Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds to finish the regular season with a 3-7 conference mark (3-9 overall) to earn the No. 4 seed at the District 6C-East Tournament.
Big Sandy will begin the tournament with the first game of the day Thursday at 10 a.m. against the No. 5 seed Chester/Joplin-Inverness Hawks. The Pioneers and Hawks both finished with identical 3-7 marks and split their head to head meeting but Big Sandy won their match in three sets while they lost to the Hawks in 5 giving them the higher seed.
Should they win the opening match they won't wait long to play again as they would take on the top seeded Chinook Sugarbeeters in the third match of the tournament. A loss against the Hawks would have the Pioneers playing again in the second match of the loser out session which gets underway Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m.
