My Answer

This column is based on the words and writings of the late Rev. Billy Graham.

Q: I am not necessarily against Jesus but I think people throughout history have embellished his story and made him bigger than life. Show me where I might be wrong.

A: From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham

Jesus Christ is bigger than life! He breathed life into the first man, Adam, and He gives life to every human being. He is so much bigger than life that He speaks it into existence. “He gives to all life, breath, and all things” (Acts 17:25). “You alone are the Lord; You have made heaven … the seas and all that is in them, and You preserve them all” (Nehemiah 9:6).

Jesus, the Savior of the world, also grants eternal life to those who will repent of their sins, humble themselves, and walk in obedience according to His holy word. To embellish His story would be impossible.

Jesus came from Heaven and confined Himself to lowly earth in order that He might communicate His love for mankind and sacrifice His own life for us. He was so poor he said of Himself that he had nowhere to lay His head. He rode on another man’s beast. He was buried in another man’s grave. He never wrote a book. Yet all the words that have been written about Him would fill a thousand Congressional libraries. His teachings have endured for more than 2,000 years. He never studied medicine but He healed those who sought the touch of the Master’s hand.

Each person will one day stand before this mighty King. Do not turn away from Him. Do not excuse the still small voice within that is perhaps speaking your name. Put your burdens, doubts, and even unbelief at the feet of the Savior and receive His mercy and grace without delay.
