FFA sponsors Donkey Basketball

Last Tuesday the FFA members and advisor, Mr. Taylor, held a fundraiser at the Big Sandy High School. The fundraiser was the annual donkey basketball game with different teams and good concessions! Lots of people donated food for concessions and the FFA members organized the whole fundraiser.

The point of donkey basketball is different teams playing a game of basketball while riding adorable donkeys. There were two five-minute rounds for each game. Five players play at a time, with four players riding donkeys and one player as the center player. The center payer would stay in a certain area and try to help out as much as they could while the donkey riders tried to make a basket and good passes. The teams were really fun to watch, and all the players had a great time.

There was also delicious concessions for dinner. They served pulled pork sandwiches with chips, beans, brownies, and drinks. The FFA members who weren't riding donkeys helped in the concession area. Everyone enjoyed the food and the FFA members had a fun time running the fundraiser.

There was a total of four games with four different teams. The teams included the FFA members, the school staff, the booster club members, and people from around town. The first two games were random between the teams. The third game was against the losers, the random adults and the school staff. The fourth game was against the winners, the FFA members, and the booster club members. The Booster club winners won with the FFA members coming in a close second.

Overall, the night was really fun and successful. FFA raised a good amount of money and had a fun time doing it. The people around town who participated had a great time and the people who came to support loved to watch the games. Thank you to everyone who came and supported the Big Sandy FFA! In case you aren't aware the FFA Alumni were chartered in January and due to the Donkey Basketball game were able to double their membership to 40 members. The next time they will meet will be at the FFA Banquet May 17th.
