Lainey Gregory and Amanda Cline have been selected to participate in American Legion Auxiliary Girls State in Helena in June.
The Girls State program began in 1937. The program epitomizes the ALA's mission to honor those who have brought us our freedom through our enduring commitment to develop young women as future leaders grounded in patriotism and Americanism.
Each summer approximately 16,000 young women participate in a week long ALA Girls state program across the nation. Every American Legion Auxiliary program operates with the same patriotism values though a non-partisan curriculum where students assume the roles of government leaders campaigning in mock parties to become mayors, county and state officials within their Girls State.
The learning experience, memories and lasting friendships last a lifetime.
Thank you to Mrs. Christine Brumwell for facilitating the applications for the Junior girls each year.
Big Sandy Rotary's generosity has sponsored one of the girls. Thank you, rotary. American Legion Auxiliary has been supporting Girls State in Big Sandy for well over 50 years.
Lainey is the daughter of Rob and Leslie Gregory
Amanda is the daughter of Charla Moffit and Ty Cline.
