Barracudas Win Season Opener

The Big Sandy Swim Team placed first as a team at the Harlem Swim Meet, outscoring second place Chinook by nine points. The team also brought home five high-point trophies and set three new pool records.

On the girls' side of the action, Astrid Ketchum brought home high point honors for the 8-under girls. Mackenzie Werk placed third overall for the 8-under girls. Keirra Oats placed 3rd in the 9-10 girls and Jai Baumann placed 6th in the 11-12 girls division. Three swimmers placed in the 13-14 division, with Malaysia Baumann placing 5th, Caydence Pleninger placing 2nd and Daisy LaBuda winning high point honors. Jozlyn Baumann won high point for the senior division.

On the boys' side, Henry Merrill brought home his first high point trophy in the 8-under division. Ryder Oats placed 6th in the 9-10 division and Tannin Baumann placed 4th in the 11-12 division. Three senior boys placed, with Tyler Schwarzbach placing 4th, Cam Schwarzbach placing 2nd and Brady Pleninger winning high point honors. Pleninger also broke the pool records in the 50 free and 100 free, while Cam Schwarzbach broke the pool record in the 400 free.

Swimming for the first time as Barracudas were Audrey Idleman, Ella Idleman, Thea Merrill, Levon Myers, Abbey Sietsema, Liam Simpson, and D'Aree SunChild.
