Keely Bahnmiller coordinator of the Big Sandy Garage Sale on June 15th says this year they have 33 yard sales with 45 families participating. We have more sites this year than last year. We have 11 families that have returned from last year and 22 new sites this year.
Keely says to "Please come stop by and shop for Big Sandy's second annual community rummage sale." It is one day only from 8-3. The high traffic usually is over by 1:00 so some families start boxing up then.
"Stop by the Bear Paw Deli and Coffee Shop to get your coffee fix and a yummy bite to eat and grab a map before the sale starts!"
"This year we have the Barracuda Swim Team offering lunch at the Senior Center downtown as well, so you can stop and grab a bite to eat and support some hard-working kids who just happen to be state champions! Lunch will be Taco in a bag or taco salad with brownies and bottled water!"
Keeley is hoping to bring people to town and will be felt by the businesses in town. That they will stop in the businesses and leave some dollars of support.
"It's going to be a fun day." We hope to tell everyone to box up their leftovers and promote medical guild rummage sale.
Excitement is growing in the whole town. When I asked Keely why she does it, she said it's fun and she always has things she needs to get rid of. Last year she did not drive around town stopping at all the sites, because she has "enough stuff and I don't need to add to it." We both laughed because it's such a true statement. However, this year there are certain items she needs, so she thought if she had time she'd check out all of the sites.
