On the evening of August 3rd, from Jordan to Big Sandy and every community in between, combines shut down and balers quit baling. An estimated crowd of between 600-700 farmers, ranchers, and concerned citizens gathered in Winifred for an evening of socializing and fundraising to raise money for the all-important cause of stopping the APR. There were 50/50 tickets, over 100 donated raffle items, live auction items, free-will donation burger fry, corn-hole tournament, and live entertainment for the street dance. The Wortman Sisters of Big Sandy were amongst the roster of musicians who provided excellent entertainment for all. By the time the evening drew to an end (for some, it was the early morning), the supporters of Save the Cowboy had raised $40,000. For those of you who were unable to attend and still want to contribute, please send your donations to (Montana Natural Resource Coalition) MTNRC at P.O. Box 468 Lewistown, MT 59457. You can also follow Save the Cowboy on facebook. Special thanks to the Carr Family of Winifred, Representative Dan Bartel of Lewistown, and all of the numerous volunteers and participants who helped make the evening a huge success.
