Big Sandy FFA news

This week we have had two successful FFA activities. At the Annual FFA Fall Barbeque on September 16th, the community was able to come help us kick off our year. We started with a potluck along with pulled-pork sandwiches. Next was a presentation on what FFA is and its opportunities. And to end the night we had a Labor Auction to raise money for the FFA members' travel funds which allows us to experience attend FFA events such as John Deere Ag days, State and National Convention. These activities would not be possible without the support of the community and our FFA alumni.

Fall Districts for Range and Livestock in Roy was held on September 17th. The Range contest included common plant ID, a similarity index, and an AUM scenario. In Livestock, they judged feeder heifers, Targhee ewe lambs, two classes of market hogs, Targhee rams, feeder steers, and Boer goat doelings. It was a successful event as Big Sandy FFA took 1st as a team in Range, and both the junior and senior teams placed 3rd in Livestock. Several individuals also did exceptionally well; Faith Gasvoda placed 3rd overall and Angie Sant took 1st in the junior divison for Livestock. Katherine Bold won 1st again this year in Range. Its was a great turnout and experience.
