Big Sandy Library sharing their love of sewing with kids

Our small town library has taken a hobby and turned it into an event for all ages. Last month, they held a kid's sewing activity and they are doing it again this month. An advanced sewing class will take place at the library on Thursday, October 17th. It's RSVP only, so call the library and get some more details. It's a fun, free activity to take part in. to get to know your community better.

Last month's class had a great turn out. Four kids showed up and learned the importance and fun of sewing. Janelle Barber took the lead in organizing the event and from the sounds of it, everyone had a wonderful time.

The library is doing its part in bringing the community and kids together in even more fun activities. In a hope to get more teenagers involved, they are hosting cupcake decorating on October 24th. This event is free and for all ages. So go on down and enjoy some fun family Halloween time.

September was national library card sign up month. When and if you signed up, you entered a rally and the lucky ticket winner was Sarah Shaw.

To help students out, the library is hosting a weekly event called: "Homework Help Tuesdays". The turn out on it so far hasn't been great, but that will change over time. Kids of all ages are more than welcome to stop by and get some one-on-one time to study. Another event that is going to bring the community closer is a special Reader guest once a month. The story time special guest reader will be Heather Wolery. Story time will be October 9th at 10:30 am. They will read stories to kids and give them all some time to let their imaginations run wild.

Feel free to stop by and get some quality family time at any of these events hosted by our local library.
