Big Sandy Food Bank receives donations

The Big Sandy Food Bank staff and food bank recipients have expressed great gratitude for the support of the local community that has given dollars to help provide food to those in our community. There has been some increase in need.

Terry Grant said, "There have always been those that have anonymously contributed to the Food Bank account at The Grocery Store. This acknowledgment includes all the time Deb puts in receiving and keeping track of the donated funds so that we can keep the shelves stocked as supplies are needed."

Terry also said that "Marlene Terry has made several face masks and rather than charging for them, accepted donations from the individuals picking them up. These donations were then put into the Food Bank account at the store."

Town Pump Charitable Foundation Grant: A grant request was submitted in February for funds established to assist food banks and nutritional providers. Terry continued, "In mid-April, we were notified that we were approved under the umbrella of the Chouteau County Department of Public Health and Human Services. The grant was split evenly between the food banks in Fort Benton, Highwood, and Big Sandy. Our portion is $2,500."

The Senior Class of 2020 has also donated to the local food bank.

"We don't know where the needs will be down the road as our community faces the COVID-19 challenges. What we do know is the support coming in from the community is making it possible to provide for our community members."

If you know of an individual or family that needs food, please have them contact Terry Grant or one of the Board members. This need may be for immediate support or indefinite. "We will do our best to be there for the community members as you have been in supporting the program."
