Fitness Corner

If you’ve been reading my articles for the last few weeks, you’ll know I’ve really been into learning more about nutrition in the previous few months. And I love learning, especially when it’s something I’m passionate about. My mom had asked me if I have ever read the Tom Brady book. I laughed, of course, cause I’m not a Patriots fan, and would never really think about reading anything he wrote. But when she briefly told me what it was, I thought I’d look into it. And then next thing you know she texted me and told me she bought it. I’ve been reading it ever since. The book is called “The TB12 Method”.

He talks about how to achieve a lifetime of sustained peak performance. It’s such a great book, and I would recommend it to anyone that wants to learn more about new methods of training that can benefit anybody. He shares these “commonsense” principles to rethink how we exercise, train, and live to our fullest potential. (Excerpt from book).

The fact that the man is almost 43 and still playing professional football is a fantastic feat (whether you’re a fan of his or not). The average time in the NFL for a player is 3.3 years. This year will be his 20th year! The one thing I’ve learned reading his book is that we should be willing to adapt to change and learn new methods to be our very best selves.

Let us do that in all aspects of life; Look for the best, try to be our best. We all have failures; we all get lost; we all want to give up. Human nature wants you to keep trying, though, be your best! I could recommend a bunch of great personal development books if you ever want to read a few.

Starting over is better than giving up.

Recipe:

Keto Chili Con Carne

Ingredients

• 500 grams Ground Beef

• 100 grams Onion

• 150 grams Tomato Puree

• 1 Tsp Cumin Powder

• 1 Tbsp Coriander

• Salt & pepper to taste

• 1 Tbsp Avocado Oil

• Water as needed

Instructions

Start by slicing the onions into half-moons, as thin as you can. Then heat the avocado oil in a pan and fry the onions. You want to cook them low and slow for about 8-10 minutes till they get nice and brown

Once the onions are brown, add ground beef and season with salt, pepper, and cumin. Then cook the beef till it releases its juices and those dry up, and the beef starts browning.

Then add in the tomato puree and a couple of splashes of water and cover and cook for 5-7 minutes.

Finally, cookout the liquid if you want it dryer or add some water if you want it soupy and finish by adding in the coriander.

Serve with some sour cream on top or mashed avocado.
