Yes, it has been more interesting to meet, but Rotary continues to meet weekly now that fall is here. They wanted everyone to know they are still alive and well! Big Sandy Rotary has remained active even during these uncertain times. They have met every two weeks during the summer and before starting meeting weekly again after Labor Day.
They continue to support our community in a variety of projects. The cemetery gazebo project is nearly complete! The directory was placed three weeks ago and just needs one more addition. Print directories will be available soon.
They have donated funds to the Booster Club basketball court currently being installed at the grade school.
They continue to maintain Sheehy Park east of town in the Bears Paw Mountains. We are looking at options for altering the bridge to make crossing easier for larger campers. The park is open for camping through September. It is currently closed.
Although Chili Feed is not happening as planned, Spirit Week will continue during that week of school, and Rotary is planning on once again sponsoring the Punt, Pass and Kick event for grade school and JR. High. Look for more information on this coming soon.
Even though the original walking path project has been abandoned, our idea for a community walking path has not. Plans are in the works for a project that follows the former railroad path, which involves visiting not only with Burlington Northern, but also the Montana Highway Department.
We will soon be working on maintaining the fence around the ball fields by adding new cross pieces and fencing and placing more gates so the disc golf course is more accessible.
We are applying, as we always have to the Lippard-Clawiter grants for youth activities for outdoor projects and a project to bind the old Mountaineers to be housed at the library.
They are encouraging new members and they are always open to new project ideas. Contact a Rotary member if you'd like to join or have suggestions.
