Tom Mathews, a new Chouteau County resident, has lived in Montana 36 years of the past 40 years. "I was stationed at Malmstrom in 1980, and after orders to Germany, I spent time in Colorado and Florida before moving back to Great Falls in the early '90s." Tom is originally from Clark, NJ, and enlisted in the Air Force right out of high school.
Although he has dabbled in art in some form or another ever since he was a young child, " I have been watercolor painting for about 2 1/2 years." Being creative has always been an important part of his life.
"Right now, watercolor painting is my main focus. I also enjoy pen and ink sketching and playing around with calligraphy."
I was struck by the beauty of his work, excited to find another artist, and I asked if I could share it. He said, "It would be great if a person, upon seeing my artwork got just what they needed at that moment in their life, to make them feel just a little bit better."
